We can trace our history back to 1822 when William H. Heelis established our originating law firm. Our founder’s descendant, a later William Heelis was the husband of Beatrix Potter. It is possible to visit his solicitor’s office in Hawkshead, Cumbria. It was here that he first met Beatrix Potter when she visited his office to get legal help with the purchase of farmland in the Lake District. They married in 1913.
