Costs

We believe in transparency with regard to costs and agree a costs solution for each and every piece of work we carry out for a client which is set out clearly in a Letter of Engagement for that piece of work. This lists not only the work we will carry out but also the areas we are not required to advise on or that are considered unnecessary by the client.

We are able to provide a number of costs solutions dependent upon the client and the work proposed. These include:

• a fixed price for the work which is payable irrespective of the time engaged on the work
• a capped fee for the work. Fees are charged on an hourly basis but with a maximum cap for completion of the work

• hourly rates charged for the amount of time spent carrying out the work by each team member
• a blended hourly rate charged for the amount of time spent carrying out the work but with the blended rate applying irrespective of the team member carrying out the work

Value Added Tax is payable on all of our charges for work. In addition we may need to make certain payments for you for searches or the production of documents. We would usually charge for these as they are incurred or ask you to put us in funds to pay for them. Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) is also payable on certain transactions at the prevailing rate set by HM Revenue and Customs from time to time.
